Be a part of the inaugural COMBA Conference — a celebration and exploration of Black music across genres, traditions, and generations. This conference is open to students from all disciplines and universities. Whether you are studying music, history, sociology, education, or beyond, if you are passionate about Black musical contributions, we invite you to join us for an inspiring weekend of learning, community, and celebration.

Who Should Register?

We invite students from universities across the country who are engaged in the research, performance, and celebration of Black music. We especially encourage students from universities across Georgia, Alabama, and Florida — both HBCUs and PWIs — to register and attend! Whether you are researching, performing, or passionate about Black music, this conference offers an incredible opportunity to present your work, learn from leading voices, and connect with a thriving community of artists and scholars. All student-performers, student-researchers, and student music enthusiasts are welcome!

Registration for the COMBA 2026 Conference is completely FREE thanks to the generous support of the College of Music Housewright Virtuoso Series and the Congress of Graduate Students at Florida State University
.
 
We are proud to offer this opportunity at no cost to participants to foster access, engagement, and community building.
